weaning off the crate...

Hi everyone:

My pup will be a year old in less than a month. I was wondering at what age do you wean a pup off the crate. He sleeps a lot better when he is in it at night (he roams around and can't get comfortable when he is out at night). I want him to have free range around the house during the day.

Any suggestions?
