***this is one of the dirty little secrets of the humane/shelter world.
I was appalled when I first heard of it as well.  They are euthanizing
thousands of adoptable dogs here in the south because we can't find
responsible owners, and come to find out there are pockets around the
country where this importation has become commonplace.  Those humane
groups and shelters don't want our dogs because demand is for small
dogs, and most of ours are large, and not puppies.  See the below listed
