Hi Cheryl I second what Vilma said as far as exercise goes but we would not let the young dog jump out of the pickup bed. We haul ours behind the seat "extended cab" and help the pup down. Will also help our 10 1/2 year old down.
The only time ours ride in the pickup bed is the 2 mile trip to the Drive in for their Ice Cream Cone and one of us rides back their with them. The do love their ICE CREAM!!!!!!!! That is a mess trying to feed 4 BERNERS Ice Cream Cones. :-)) RB PS. We are in NE Oregon.
