Server 2008 domain controllers limit the number of connections that can be made by a single account. Check out this support article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949469 We had to enable verbose logging on the DCs to see the errors, but this was the root cause of our BB issues as well as a couple of other things. Basically the BES doesn't reconnect to the DC correctly; thwn you try to send a message, it does a global catalog lookup to validate your account, and that is what is faililng and causing the red x. Also check MAPI profile on BES server.
