I refer you to the recent postings by David Louisson here, and the FILES area of this Yahoo Group, and the archived messages for information on how to use Best Charts. Myself and others such as David have put a lot of effort in providing information on using Best Charts. It is up to new users to avail themselves of this available information first, before asking for it to be repeated here for their enlightenment.

Best Charts is not a "service". It does not provide data. When you pay for Best Charts, you are paying for a license to use the Best Charts software to analyze data you download from yahoo or other sources of your choosing. Just as Ford does not teach you to drive a car, Best Charts does not teach technical analysis. Best Charts does provide you many of the indicators and tools to allow you to do technical analysis. It remains your own responsibility to obtain a basic understanding of the functioning of the indicators, and technical analysis in general.

The signals provided by Best Charts should be very similar to those obtained using the same indicators and parameters in any technical analysis software, some costing hundreds of dollars more.

A free version of Best Charts remains available.

Subject: [bestcharts] Please clarify Bestcharts

Don't know if this is the proper forum for this, however I'd appreciate a response. Not to open any wounds here, but recently one person was upset because you stated he should get a better handle on technical expertise, before investing, or something like that. He responded that he was investing for several years.

My question is perhaps naive, but aren't the parameters set as default on bestcharts the established and most commonly ones used by the technically oriented.? If so then aren't the buy/sell signals given by some exact technical indicator, equivalent to some knowledgeable technician pondering when lines cross, or when conditions are met? In essence doesn't Bestcharts do the pondering for you?

When Bestcharts was free I used it continuously simply relying on the certain signals to determine weather we were in a trading or trending scenario. Thereafter I concentrated on indicators most associated with that particular Scenario. I felt that was a logical approach, but after many loses I simply gave up, and never signed up for bestcharts when it became a paid service.

Was my investment thinking wrong?  What makes bestcharts paid service different from the old? I really enjoyed experimenting with bestcharts, but determined it did nothing for me. I'm sure it is a good service, but exactly how does one approach Bestcharts, use it effectively, and profit from it. Does Bestcharts take the guess work out of technical indicators, or do we still need to untangle each indicator step by step the old fashioned way?
