I understand this better now.

The default fonts are as in the message below, and are used on any new
installation. However, in the earlier beta systems, we had not finished the
font definitions, and so early beta users got config files with unsuitable
fonts.

A simple solution is to use menu Edit|Configure|Qt IDE and update the
FontFamily, e.g.

FontFamily=Lucida Console


Then restart J. Once this is done, please let us know of any problem with
the default fonts.


BTW, the font rendering is done by Qt and this is slightly different from
GTK, which in turn is slightly different from J6. A font that looks good in
one version, does not necessarily look good in another. However, AFAIK, the
default fonts chosen should work in all systems.
