As far as I am aware, the forum posts are normal mail, and how your mailbox interprets them is entirely up to your own mailbox configuration.
If I am wrong about this, and there is some mailman configuration that can be changed, let me know.
So has been said before ... but i have looked through the settings of gMail and i can see nothing that would have it discard the incoming mail. There are filters ... but the only filters i have made forward mail w/o deleting it. So AFAIK there is no automatic deletion of any kind going on at my end... except i do believe gMail has some strong Spam filtration in place. Perhaps someone else with gMail experience can set me straight on this. Otherwise i think there may be a Mailman setting that does prevent posts being echoed back to the author. It is a common "feature" for mailers.
