It is necessary, yes. The server makes no record at all of the fact that you've checked it out but, if you don't, you won't get the subversion metadata which enables the subsequent differential downloads (i.e. only the lines of code that have changed). > > Is it necessary to actually checkout the code - does the server keep > track that I have a checked out everything?
