My configuration is a wired network. The player settings for the one
player currently connected show that it has a Mac ID which is normal
(which in earlier firmware releases would be the same one I would see
in the router's DHCP table). Now, the DHCP table shows a weird Mac ID
for this player of 717565657A65626F782F303030343230, even though the
player info through the browser interface still shows its original
normal Mac ID.

For what its worth, that ASCII string looked familiar to me. It reads:

"queezebox/000420"

This seems like classing stack trampling, or use of previously freed
memory. The 000420 is the start of the MAC address.

This has been reported once before, you may want to add your comments to http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3851
