That's now done, in Squeezebox2/3 firmware 64. The option (by default now always on) disables both the DAC and digital outputs for people that use auto-sensing amps/receviers. I have just chceked this in and it should be in the next nightly release for 6.5 and trunk. It would be great if you could try this and let me know if it fixes your problem.
