I tried to stop SC via the tasktray icon but it just says "Stopping SqueezeCenter .." for ages. TaskMgr shows that the tasktray and SC processes are still running. (Meanwhile SB prompts for the firmware upgrade OK but shows the library as empty.) So I ended up killing the SC processes.
I eventually found the prefs file (C:\ProgramData is a hidden/system folder) and removed the 'password' line.
