No, I didn't do anything during that time. Still 100% CPU (or 50% although I can't reproduce that) Doesn't seem like it's anything that Firebug can measure.
I've just tried a new profile and a new installation of Firefox and I still get the same effect. The fact that it doesn't happen if I put a window on top of Firefox (but not completely covering it) makes me wonder if it's some graphics driver issue. I doubt I have much chance of identifiying that if it is though!
