There was another bug related to repos which rely on http redirects - which should be fixed now. Have you tried the latest version SC?
The web page shows less than before (work in progress), but it should show a entry for each plugin in the built in repos and any you define - so you should get a list of at lest 10 or so plugins even with no additional repos defined.
