I am experiencing exactly the same problem as huskey. I am running ClarkConnect 4.3 (w/all the latest upgrades) and any version of Squeezeboxserver newer than 7.3.x refuses to run. with the same "squeezeboxserver dead but subsys locked" status message.
Is there any way to resolve this while staying with CC 4.3?
