So were we. But you're right: don't trust stats you haven't faked yourself :-). 
Looking at the data a little closer shows that there's a huge installation base 
of Linux based NAS devices.

Good question. The data we have doesn't represent the full install base, but 
only systems checking for updates. I guess it doesn't include the various 
installations JJZolx is running :-P. But as most users probably never touch 
that option (and it's enabled by default), the numbers should be pretty 
representative.
