Andy, could it be that the encoding issue is related to running SBS on Windows XP using the NTFS filesystem. Did you only use Win 7 as the test platform? This bug fix http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16662 appears to have addressed a similar CLI problem.
