Andy, when running a full clear & rescan in 7.6 with MySQL, it always hangs during the precaching artwork phase. Precaching works fine when running a new & changed scan. I suspect it's a problem along the same lines.
I'm not sure if we should file bugs or not for MySQL issues in 7.6.
