It especially need to be able to add specific files. Check bug http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17546 (especially comment #8) You can also check http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17545 Erland developped a VERY useful patch to disale automatic scan in TinySBS. Only browsed folder are added to the database.
