Kind of interesting. Here are two scans run on the same server (Windows 2008 Server R2). With a 41,000 track library, I added one new album and also edited the tags in another. The first new & changed scanning results are from a 7.9 server, while the second is a 7.8.1 server on the same machine, run immediate after the first. There's very little difference in scanning speed between the two versions of the server. If anything, 7.9 is faster. The difference here is that disk caching makes the second scan more than twice as fast.
