One thing that I'm noticing with both the "Random Mix Genre Albums XXXX" in the webUI and with various 3rd party apps:
The random mix selects entire albums, not just the tracks that match the selected genre. I.e. for mixed-genre albums, the entire album gets thrown in the mix, not just the tracks tagged with the selected genre.
