How did you arrive your figure, I am getting it as 1280 yards...
speed of boy = a speed of girl = b distance between = d at first intercept: Time taken = 720/b = (d - 720)/a at second intercept: Time taken = (2d - 400)/b = (d + 400)/a (As 10 mins is taken for both, it is neglected.)
