[Bf-committers] reactor particles

Hello, by doing some job, I just realized that reactor particles were removed.
Is it one of the features which accidentally disappeared by the 2.5 merge, or 
were they removed intentionally?
They had very usefull behaviour, so I am wandering why the removal happened.
