See: Apple LLVM version 5.0 (clang-500.2.79) (based on LLVM 3.3svn) Means you have an xcode that only comes with clang ( aka 5.x + ) For CUDA kernelcompile with clang, you need CUDA 5.5 or higher ! This is also documented by NVidia. You'll have no other chance if you use newest xcode which only comes with clang. Clang has no -dumspecs option.
BTW:: the remaining gcc and llvm-gcc are SHIM#s for bw-compatibility and plain point to clang again.
