Hi,

Now that 2.83 is out, it is good to clarify what kind of fixes gets
ported, how to handle regressions, and how to handle reports.

Currently, for non-LTS releases, Blender only has a corrective release
if severity 1 issues (high priority bugs) are found. When the
corrective release is agreed on, however, severity 2 (high priority
and normal bugs) fixes are ported along. For the LTS releases, a more
limited policy would apply (only porting severity 1 issues after the
next stable release), on a fixed schedule after the fix was tested in
master for some time. [1]

Bugs reported in an LTS version are treated as any other bug, and if
already fixed in master are considered closed. [2]

The LTS pilot is meant to run in parallel to regular development for
upcoming releases. After committing a fix, the LTS team will take care
of porting it (or not) to the LTS branch.

The current point of contact for LTS maintenance and development is
Jeroen Bakker (@atmind) on blender.chat.
