Residents of JUHU and Activists pan-Mumbai will gather outside *Gagandeep on Gulmohur Road, JVPD at 05:00 PM on Sunday 29th March 2009. *
Under the *media glare *they will protest and rally against open spaces being usurped by vested interests which are anti-citizen and anti-Juhu welfare. The main issue is the statutory authorities allowing a Mall on the open plot opposite Gagandeep which was originally reserved for an educational trust. This negative action has been taken against the rules of the Election Comm of India which has banned policy decisions / changes, once elections are announced. The beneficiary is a private builder-developer. The rally will then move to Amar Juice Centre to protest its continuing nuisance on footpath and the north bound lanes of Gulmohur Road. Here no action is being taken even though orders exist against the offending commercial establishment. Other issues worrying Juhu residents: 3 Giving away Welfare Centre (at Gulmohur Cross Rd. 9) made on public land to ex corporator based on UD ministers recommendation, and against even the recommendation of local Corporator Adolf D'Souza. 4 Giving away Green belt next to Irla Nalla for building a private Club. *The Candidates for the coming Lok sabha elections / representatives of political parties will also be present to explain their stand on the above issues. * > *All those who want the 'change that we all seek', must come opposite Costa Coffee on Gulmohur Road, Juhu.
