BM-Delhi Campaigns for Development and Life with Dignity

Thousands of villages in Western UP are forced to use 49 (o) options during the
Lok Sabha election. The political leaders don’t want dialogue on the poor
infrastructure, like electricity, roads; but for the villages these are core
development issues, have forced village heads of 32 villages to resend and use
49(o) during Lok Sabha elections. Latest news I have got from Robin BM’s
campaign in charge that 27 more villages in Modi Nagar have joined BM’s
Campaign for Development and Dignified

Campaign commenced on 17th of April, 2009 when BM activist Robin got he news
that 32 villages consisting of more them 40,000 votes have decided to boycott
the elections. On 18th Delhi BM team lead by Vikram accompanied by Zafar,
Kamal, Avinash, Robin and supported by Youth4Equality team lead by Dr. Kaushal,
along with electronic media journalist of CNN IBN; Print Media journalist from
HT, TOI, Indian Express, Nav Bharat Times marched through dusty roads of
Western UP to convince them for VOTING. When it took us more then hour to
negotiate bumpy roads to cover distance of few Km’s we understood the pain of
men, women and Children in villages. Task to convince villages to vote was
going to be tedious, so was the trouble of convincing them but Dr. Kaushal from
Y4E and Vikram from BM explained adroitly to the villagers the essence of
resending in democracy by using 49(o).

Soon villages organized protest march shouting slogans like “Hum 49(o) ka
proyag karai gai” Y4E Zindabad, Bharat Uday Mission Zindabad.

It is better to VOTE, we want stable Bharat for propensity Nation but the
villagers in western UP seems to have no option but to choose “vote for none”
during the coming Lok Sabha election. The reasons are various. The issues of
right to Sadak, Electricity, Pani, Housing, livelihood, transparent Public
Distribution system & provision of basic amenities as per international norms
have been raised by the village dwellers but….

        * The political parties have failed to address these issues in their
manifestos.
        * They have also failed to address these issues during election
campaign & rallies.
        * The village dwellers tried several times to dialogue with assembly
members & the Lok Sabha candidates in on the above issues, but they were asked
to shut their mouths.  “Only leaders will speak & the poor has to listen”.
Nobody has right to speak except these leaders.
        * They never expect any question from poor voters. As per them they
know all the issues but have never addressed any one. They have made poor
village dwellers dependent on them for all ills.
        * For them political parties have failed to bring new faces before the
electorate. All faces are old, autocrat, already failed to address poor’s issue
have been selected for the Lok Sabha poll.
        * All political parties have failed to develop new cadres in their
organization.

In the light of above and persuasion from BM and Y4E activist the villagers
have decided  to use provision of 49 (o) in this Lok Shaba Election. Even today
BM and Y4E team are there in western UP areas campaigning for 49(o). Almost all
major media have covered these stories so far.

The choosing of 49(o) option during the election will empower people with right
to reject the wrong candidates & pave the way for the People’s candidates. But
it always better to vote and use 49(o) under extreme circumstance, staying away
from voting is disregarding the sacrifices our revolutionaries have rendered
during freedom struggle.
