Dear Friends

very well. All the presentations were excellent and discussions fruitful
leading to possible nation wide activities. I applaud the efforts taken by the
local organisers, excellent team work and cordial discussions that followed. I
wish success in our future planned activities.

Akalpita

Report of the National Convention of Bharat Uday Mission
27th and 28th June 2009, in Mumbai.

Agenda: Agenda of the convention is attached.
Saturday, 27th June 2009.
The convention started at 4.00 PM in front of the shop to be opened in
Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The meeting started by Meditating over a thought,
initiated by Ms. Ritu Nigam, for the welfare of the society and progress of the
shop followed by National Anthem and slogan of Bharat Uday Mission "We have
only one passion, the rise of a great nation". The shop was inaugurated by the
President of Bharat Uday Mission, Dr. Akalpita Paranjpe. Shri Anurag Shrivastav
put forth the pioneering idea of opening an office with a sort of meeting place
for members as well as for the new comers to know about the aims and objectives
of Bharat Uday Mission in the form of chain of shops as it serves a dual
purpose of job generation as well as visibility and outreach for the mission.
This is a second shop of the series, the first being in Raipur. It has been
decided by the members present that at the moment, it will be started by
selling of Herbs and herbal products. The shop
will also serve herbal tea and herbal juices/soups in the evening, so that the
new and old members can meet and exchange thoughts over a cup of health drink.
The shop will be taken care of by Ms. Ayesha Mali and Shri Subodh Patankar. Ms.
Ayesha Mali expressed her feelings that she has been relentlessly working for
the betterment of the society in the village Shivansai for the past twelve
years. She has created a chain of contacts and is a president of a self help
group. She stated that she will run the shop wherein the main objective will be
to propagate the aims and objectives of Bharat Uday Mission. The profitability
will never be above the aims of the mission.
Ms. Sudha Sathe has agreed to be a mentor for the shop until it starts
functioning smoothly. Shri Ashutosh Purohit has committed to visit and be there
in the shop on weekends.
It was decided that the members of the mission will not waste time in empty
talks. Everybody agreed to define some activity for the members of the mission
and the programme for execution of the same with a time line.
Meeting ended with a vote of thanks by the president and was followed by
refreshments.
Sunday 28th June 2009.
The next session of the meeting was held in Hotel Mantra, Hiranandani Gardens,
Powai at 10.00 AM. The meeting started by meditating for five minutes by all
the members present. It was initiated by Ms. Ritu Nigam on the thought of
progress and development of Nation and positive role of Bharat Uday Mission in
Nation building.
Meeting started with the slogan: We have only one passion, the rise of a great
nation.
All the members present took the following oath:
(1) National Interest will be topmost priority for me.
(2) I will follow the path of truth in thoughts, words and deeds.
(3) I will uphold the highest moral values and ethics.
(4) I will not discriminate on the basis of caste, race, gender, religion,
culture, language or class.
(5) I will be open minded to any good idea. I will respect the right of other
individuals to have a different opinion, provided it is in the interest of the
country and humanity at large.
Next, all the members sung The National Anthem.
Meeting was inaugurated by Shri Anil Kumar Anand, senior advisor of BM, by
lighting a Diya. Shri Anand talked about various energy sources and their
comparative long term feasibility. He talked about the waste generated in
various energy sources and the role of Nuclear Energy in power generation.
Dr. Akalpita Paranjpe gave the presidential address. She talked about the
National agenda of Bharat Uday Mission which is given in the attached file.
The next discussion was on channelizing the youth energy to create dream
nation. Shri Gyanesh Thakur spoke on behalf of youth. He gave a definition of
youth, which is not by physical age but capacity to work with energy. In his
definition, Shri Anand (70) and Dr. Paranjpe (62) are youth because of their
dynamism and their energy to work. He highlighted the following points:
Reservations should be based on the economic and social reasons rather than
casts. The casts can move up or down the economic or social ladder, and hence
cannot be basis the of reservations. In the present system, benefits of
reservation do not reach the section of population which really deserves it. He
also talked about unity and said not to divide ourselves on the basis of caste,
gender, language, region and other issues. He called youth to come forward for
national development.
Shri Gyanesh has already initiated employment generation drive in Bihar. He has
taken up the responsibility of: (1) Establishing BM in Bihar and concentrating
on the next assembly elections in Bihar. (2) Activating Navi Mumbai Chapter.
(3) Membership Drive.
Dr. Sharad Kale, who is the father of bio gas plants, a scientist from Bhabha
Atomic Research Centre gave inspiring talk on Sustainable Development. He gave
several examples of how we, who take science education from the school, do not
apply it in day to day life (like use of pressure cookers by letting the
pressure release, a contradiction in the name of the cooker). He explained the
natural cycle as the sustainable growth model and how we can best use nature
for the growth. He explained the concept of bio gas plant and emphasized the
need to have the plants for managing the wet waste ( or Nisarga run as he calls
it) all over the country, as it will give fuel, energy, good quality fertilizer
which can give healthy food through the country from what we call as waste.
Give back to nature what you do not utilize and nature will give you back in
abundance.
It is noticed that due to some reason, such a brilliant project is not being
implemented by municipalities and Nagar Parishad's of various cities and towns.
Hence, it was unanimously decided to persuade/pressurize the Mumbai Municipal
Corporation to start with to implement the waste management programme using
bio-gas plant technology. To identify the places where the plants can be
installed. To give a time line for such a project.
The afternoon session started at 2.30 PM.
Shri Anurag Shrivastava talked about employment generation proposal. He
proposed a target of 20 model shops across India within next two years with
underlying objective of spreading awareness, self discipline and patriotism.
Shri Sandeep Jalan talked about social justice and empowerment. Following are
the excerpts from his talk:
It ordinarily implies empowerment of weaker and vulnerable section of the
society.
There are many schemes introduced by central and state governments for the
upliftment of weaker sections. But, in reality, such schemes do not reach the
desired population. BM can do two things. (1) Arrange RTI clinics to guide
people to interact with the administration and obtain benefits from various
schemes. (2) Explore the avenues of the human rights commission to have fast
justice.
Sandeep volunteered to take up the responsibility of conducting the clinics and
to help in reaching the human rights commission.
Shri Ganesh Naik talked about education policies. He stated that our emphasis
should be on holistic education rather than personal education. Fundamental
policies should be to inculcate personal and institutional values.
He has already started such a programme in Andheri for 40 students.
Plan for 2009-2010
Scholarship programme for an orphanage in Mankhurd to motivate the students to
study and excel.
Providing a library facility at various places in the city wherein those who do
not have place to study can be benefited.
Creating Scientific and sustainable development awareness amongst students by
giving lectures at various places.
Ganesh has planned and has already started these activities.

Shri Ashutosh Purohit emphasized on the need for a fund generation for the
mission. Take small real steps to make big changes. Place multi coloured dust
bins outside the shop for segregating green, glass, metal, paper and other
waste. Begin with what you think should be done.
Shri Surindersingh Rajpurohit who had come from Hyderabad to attend the
convention said he will take the responsibility of activities in Andhra
Pradesh, specifically in Hyderabad.
Shri Robin called from Delhi to express his inability to attend the convention
and conveyed his good wishes for the success of the convention and his
solidarity and support towards the mission.
Shri Vibhash Jha from Raipur, Chhatis Gadh, sent a CD of recorded message for
the convention. He also expressed his good wishes and commitment towards the
cause of the mission.
The meeting was concluded by vote of thanks by the president.
National anthem was recited.
Meeting ended with our slogan: We have only one passion, the rise of a great
nation.
