Voters are fed up of elections being fought with money, muscle, tainted candidates and divisive agenda. Voters are fed up that one-up-man-ship is the driver of the elections, but development and increasing jobs and incomes never gets discussed. Voters are fed up of vote bank politics and perpetuating poverty. Unfortunately ... voters have no choice with the existing political parties.
The 50+ supportive groups of JNM have resolved to put a Citizens' Consensus Candidate (CCC) from Andheri West Constituency: A165 for the Sep09 Assembly elections. A process of outreach has begun and similar to the 2007 Muni Corp. elections, voters will be met with to take their suggestions and wishes into account. An updated FAQ and Organization Chart are attached to explain the basics. Clarifications can be sought from the contacts therein. JNM needs selfless and dedicated volunteers for each Ward. It was explained at the Sun05Jul09 meet that the CCC is called 'independent candidate' as per the Election Commission of India nomenclature, meaning s-he is not affiliated to a political party. The Constituency will have the Citizens Committee who will consist of proven local activists and who will eventually choose the Candidate for the election. This is a transparent and participative effort by the voters and their activists from the area and the elected CCC is answerable to them. Incidentally, this process is better than what the leading political parties are using even today. Such a process was implemented two and half years ago when a CCC was put up for the Municipal Corporation Election and was elected in Feb 2007 for Ward-63. In short ... *the CCC is not an 'independent' by action or accountability*. By the way, the Ward-63 Citizens Committee is functioning for over two and half years.
