On Sunday, July 26th, members of the Mumbai group visited Bal Kalyan Nagari,
Mankhurd, which is a shelter for needy children. The meeting was organised
because one of the members, Shri Ganesh Naik, had some suggestions for the
progress of the children in this shelter, since there is no body to encourage
them.
Following are the initiatives taken by Ganesh

(1) He has donated 20 chairs for the library room. These chairs are with a
small writting arm.
(2) He has donated 20 umbrellas for the students to be chared in Monsoon.
(3) He has anounced two scholarships for the students. (i) Best student-one who
is good to every body, is helpful, is cultured. A panal of members will elect
the student on recommendations from the ashram authorities. (ii) A student who
has overall good performance and has also secured more than 70% marks in the
10th standard.

THe number can be increased when more volunteers come forward to donate for the
cause.

Three cheers to Ganesh hip Hip Hurrye.

The meeting was attended overwhelmingly by the students and volunteers.
(1) Students expressed that they would like to get coaching for science and
mathematics. Drs. Paranjpe readily agreed to arrange for such a coaching from
amongst scientists of BARC, since Bal Kalyan Nagari just accross the road to
Anushakti Nagar.
(2) Shri Kamble, who is in charge of the Ashram expressed the need for 10 more
chairs. This was agreed upon.
(3) It has been decided that one student who is capable and wants to persuade
further education will be given support each year.
(4) Anurag Sharma has agreed to help the students for landskaping the gardens
with their own help.

Members of the team mingled with the resident children. It was a unique
experience.

Some of the photographs of the event are uploaded for the group.

I request members to come forward and take active part in this initiative and
to bring joy to the life of deprived and also make donations for this honorable
cause.
