It was a very pleasant visit. Our teacher, Shri Namdeo Dighe, moved around in the basti and gave a call to the students that the teacher has come and they should go to the school. This is because, this is a government run school, which, otherwise is vacant. He also urged the parents to send the students to the school. We then moved around in different basti's around Karambeli and Yermal (in tehesil Panvel) villages. At present, our ashram houses 12 tribal students, including girls. A tribal couple has volunteered to take care of the children. Their daughters also stay in the ashram. The children attend local schools. However, there is no local school after 4th standard. Hence, our teacher teaches students above fifth standard. He also teaches them cleanliness, importance of trees and various other cultural habits. He is also a music teacher and teaches them songs and poetry. In order to encourage the students to attend the classes, we distribute sweets (toffees) or biscuits. I am uploading some of the photographs of these places. I request our members (1) To visit the place if possible, (2) To collect cloths, toys for these children (3) To donate sweets to be distributed (4) Make donations to ease the running expenses for this ashram. Right now, we are running this ashram with the help of friends and colleagues. This Ashram has been started with the initiative of our group member, Mr. Shivshankar who is otherwise silent on the group. Shri Dighe, our teacher is also a very devoted person. Right now, there is a crunch of funds; still he is working relentlessly for the improvement of the tribal children. I request all the members to donate generously either in cash or kind.
