People’s
Forum

Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS)
 is coming
up with a quarterly magazine named “People’s Forum” which
shall
primarily be in English though there shall also be some Articles
in Hindi.
The online version of the magazine shall also be there.  We plan to bring the
first issue of
the magazine in October 2010 after which it shall be regularly
published
in every three months, in the beginning of January, April, July and
October.

As the name suggests, the magazine shall be a forum for all of us to
present
our views, opinions, perspectives and ideas about the world around us
and the
possible means and methodology to make a feasible and suitable mark in
our own
little ways.

We know that today a very large number of right-thinking people are
working all
over the globe on so many issues, concepts, problems and projects
 with a
seriousness and sincerity that is truly awesome.  Some

of us are working on Human Rights, others
on women related issues, some on electoral reforms, and some about
environmental issue. We also have people, groups and organizations
working on
political problems, social dilemmas, economic matters, health issues and
 cultural
changes. Many
other issues and thoughts are being discussed, looked into and being
sorted out
by us.

The magazine wants to target exactly these issues and these efforts. We
want to
act as a forum where the common person’s perspective and voice can find
one
more place to articulate itself. Many efforts are already been done in
this
direction. We want to be one more helping hand to all such endeavors.

In short, “People’s Forum” would be a forum of the people, for
the
people and by the people. We don’t specifically align ourselves to any
particular ideology but would definitely like to state that we would be
having
a pro-people and pro-poor stance, whatever that might mean. The ambit of
 the
magazine would be wide and would cover everything with which the people
at large
are directly related with. But we would like this magazine to be taken
more as “serious”
and “purposeful” reading and hence would strictly avoid playful,
frivolous and
run-of-the mill articles.

We hope to get all your help, support and love for this effort directed
exactly
towards each one of us.

With regards,

Yours,
