Friends,

As I had told you in an earlier mail, while Section 7(5) of the RTI Act
want the fees under RTI Act to be reasonable, which is complied by most
of State governments and Central governments, the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan
Sabha and Allahabad High Court (with many other such bodies) have such
high RTI fees as Rs. 500/- and  Rs. 15/- per page of information to be
supplied .
You all agree that this cannot be called reasonable in any way.

Thus I have filed a writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution
challanging the Fees. Here I  have also presented the various economic
indicators
of the country to make it clear how such fees are not bearable by an
average citizen of this Nation. In addition,  I have also presented the
comparative fees prescribed by the High Court itself in many matters as
given in the Allahabad High Court Rules 1952

The first date of hearing is on Wednesday (25/08/2010). Shall keep you updated
of the progress.

Also attach a copy of the writ for those who might be interested in having a
look at it--
