Hallo -

in my case, it is Apple mail.app (OS X 10.5.5). I just noticed that it works when there are no files attached to the item. As soon as there is a pdf or a folder, it doesn't work and the generated email contains something like this:

--Apple-Mail-10--404610891
Content-Type: text/plain;
        charset=US-ASCII;
        format=flowed
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

--Apple-Mail-10--404610891
Content-Disposition: inline;
        filenam +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++file follows +++++++++++

It works for me, and the underlying code hasn't changed for a very
long time. What mailer are you using? Could it be that there are
special (non-ASCII) characters in the citations?

When using the contextual menu item "Send Selection via Email," I
keep
getting the PDFs attached to a message with an apparently empty space
where one would expect the citation. My preferences are set to send
in
Default BibTeX Format; this seems to be the case in both 1.3.18 and
current nightly builds. Anyone else seeing this?

same here. It is like this for a while, I think also in earlier
releases.
