What's happening if you use German? It does work just as well for me. BibDesk should recognize any http://scholar.google.* URLs, and further only looks for links containing "BibTeX" in their title. And that should work for any language. Note that you must make sure that google scholar returns BibTeX links, and the pref (cookie) for that is not shared by the different language sites.
Ok, shame on me. It works with any language setting for me, too. The essential part seems to tell google to return BibTeX-Links. Thanks!
