Your prescription seems to work! At least, repeated pressing of arrow-up/down 
keys has not caused any crash so far. Thanks a lot!

For your reference:

1. My BibTeX file indeed contains a lot of remote URLs.

2. I haven’t looked at the long OS X crash report, but the Console.app 
generated the following message:

2016/03/30 8:21:08.430 PM BibDesk[3530]: *** -[NSConditionLock 
unlockWithCondition:]: lock (<NSConditionLock: 0x10d13bfb0> '(null)') unlocked 
when not locked
2016/03/30 8:21:08.430 PM BibDesk[3530]: *** Break on _NSLockError() to debug.
