Treat it like a battery post and coat it in Vaseline once in a while. Also you might try a more waterproof and/or sturdy grease to prevent the air and moisture from getting to the point where it is corroding. I have some boating grease that's great for that, but it's blue. Might not be good unless it is harmonious with your bike fashion colour scheme.
