As Bruno pointed out https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAPREDUCE-3477 was
supposed to fix it, but I still see *spurious* failures :-( I need more time to
investigate, in the meantime the proposed hack seems to be harmless enough to
have HBase & co. unblocked.
