Way to go everyone who showed up!
Special thanks to Shawn for heading up this effort and rousing the rabble.
Another hearty thanks to the new regime (heh!) at the Parks Commission for lending a sympathetic ear and responding with a vote for humanity!!
-Mike
P.s. I keep waiting for Medaris to write his "Streets-to-Trails" manifesto. Maybe this will get him to do so sooner rather than later!

Dear Mike:
Just wanted to let you know how things went Monday night before the Park Commission when they held the hearing about the Park & Pleasure Drive.
There was a really good turn-out ------ bikies, runners, walkers, neighborhood reps, neighborhood residents. Our group, The Friends of the Park & Pleasure Drive, started off the public comment session. Five of us covered five different aspects of why we'd like to see closure to through-traffic.
After 3.5 hours, the Parks Commission voted to recommend closure to through traffic except for alternate Sunday afternoons while still allowing Edgewood access to their existing driveways. It was *quite* amazing!
Anyway, this does have to go to a number of other commissions and then, I think, the Common Council.....so the process is not over. But it's a step in the right direction.
Thanks for your interest - and thanks for giving us your support!
Please share this news with the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.
