For the record, city officials did hear from a number of bicyclists. There was a range of opinion as to whether bike lanes should be included in the design. One interesting perspective was that the city should include bike lanes on roads that are functionally classified as collectors, but in this case bike lanes aren't necessary because people don't want this road to be(come) a collector. (Personally, I would include the bike lanes in the design, because traffic volumes are bound to continue to increase.)

PBR affects people that go out that way, and not many people do that daily. Many people traverse the Square daily. I also know that only a handful of Bikies ever do anything to improve the conditions for all bicyclists. You know who you are. You are the ones attending meetings, writing letters, sending emails, making phone calls, building trails, passing the word to others, looking up documents, and getting involved. There are plenty of people that will be affected by yet another road being built without appropriate bicycle and pedestrian accommodations - in violation of local, county, state, or federal plans and mandates. But how many of those people take up the challenge to DO SOMETHING? I hate to break it to you, but the same people can't go to all the meetings. And sorry, Bike Fed can't be responsible for carrying the banner alone. Where are all the people that do group rides or training out there? Where are the commuters in the NW part of the urban area? There must be some Middleton residents on this list other than Mark Optiz. I know you are out there. Speak up! And that goes for people in other communities as well! Whew! Needed to get that out of my system. -- Robbie _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/bikies _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/bikies
