Now, I have been thinking the same thing....about taking a course on welding
myself. I have been able to use the welder at my work for the time being but
I don't like being there longer than I have to. I have converted my tandem
into a truck...it was my first try and it was relatively successful. A little
top heavy but I manage. I have seen a design that is used in a region on the
African continent and I have been trying to get enough bikes together to do
that. I have been using old bike frames that nobody wants to use to build what
I need and my brother can hook me up with more if needed. I would love to have
a place to do it and experiment more....we can get a 12 volt welder relatively
cheap.

Shae,

I'm curious on two points;
welding
carts

I'm moving to Brazil next year and trying to help folks that move large amounts
of recycleables from homes/businesses to their warehouse without expensive
vehicles. Right now they pull carts (beautifully made locally). I'm interested
in new design for bike-powered locomotion of carts. I've visited a ton of web
sites. I've considered taking an MATC welding course. I'd love to talk to
Madisonians that design/fabricate bike carts (for a variety of uses).

I can't make a Saturday meeting. Is there another time/space to talk?

See my audience (please do as it sets up the conversation):

I would be up to meeting as well. Maybe this would be a good way of talking
about the welding space and maybe sharing ideas about carts and whatnot as
well. Saturday morning would work for me.

I like the idea of meeting others also.
I'll suggest a location:
The new cafe within the new Goodman-Atwood Community Centre, conveniently
located adjacent to the bike path.
Maybe a Saturday late morning early afternoon?

I'd enjoy meeting the folks who post to this listserv. It'd be nice to put
faces to the names and network. I guess i never new folks were meetin before
