I like this idea.  But I would want to try to control the spin on the 
publicity.  Uncontrolled, the spin would likely portray riders as a 
bunch of crazies doing an extreme activity.   Having biked to work 
year-round for almost as many years as Mitch has, I see winter commuting 
as a perfectly normal, extremely sane way to commute --- once one 
figures out a few things (clothes, tires, routes, etc). 
It might be a way to get some publicity for bicycles as a year-round 
transportation option.
