Dear Mr. Ross

Is there a web site, or list serv which addresses the larger bicycle community
in Madison?

I am the Co-Chair of the Eken Park Neighborhood Association. The item below
was sent to us March 18 by a neighbor. Since the location is adjacent to the
bike path just north of E. Washington Ave. I thought it important to reach out
to the bicycling community in Madison.

I want to advise cyclists who ride near here to be alert. I also want to
encourage them to report suspicious or threatening behavior to the police, not
simply ride away. The actual location would be the corner of Commercial and
McCormick Avenues. This has been reported to the police.

Thank you,

Jim Wold
I was driving home this evening around 8:30 PM and witnessed an attempted
mugging of a man near the McCormick street apts on the corner. Please be
careful walking, 5 - 6 teenagers ran from the man on the ground when my
headlights hit on them. The ran up along Starkweather creek bike path towards
East. Washington. They never crossed E. Washington, as I turned to follow them
in my car and follow where they went. I did report it to the police.

Believe they live in the apartments along that stretch of creek between
Commercial and E. Washington. Please be careful walking at night. They
teenagers, not much older two around 6 ft in height the others all smaller
frames. They had to hold their pants up to run.

I learned from Police the man that was the victim did report it as well.

Respectfully,

Marcus
