Speaking of convertible tandems, you can get (or make) two delta-style
tricycles
and put a hitch in one that will accept the front fork of the rear trike. That
way you and your co-rider have the option of riding in tandem or individually.
I
think Hase, Sun, Lightfoot, and Greenspeed trike manufacturers would have a
hitch as an accessory. Atomic Zombie sells plans on how to build custom
recumbents and cruisers.

Speaking of which, my current dream bike is a tandem that can quickly be
converted into an Xtra-cyle type cargo bike and back. I guess it would involve
some kind of rack extension that attaches to the rack on the back wheel and the
rear tandem seat. Has anyone seen anything like this? I really don't have the
room for owning both.

Is a Bullitt to the heart the only cure?
