Even though it messes up my Paoli spins, I am thrilled to see that Fitchburg is finally giving Whalen Road the treatment it deserves. That is, they're smashing it to atoms and completely rebuilding it, apparently with a paved shoulder even! Curbs! Unbroken pavement extending completely across the road on both sides! Perhaps I shall never again be nearly nailed by the passenger-side mirror of a white Chrysler whose driver has not crossed the center line of any road since 1946. At least not on Whalen, anyway. So, does anyone have any info on their completion schedule? (Yes, I know they're usually a joke, but I'd like to have a rough idea.) I didn't see anything on Fitchburg's web site.
