Subject: [Bikies] Survey Invitation and Public Meeting Notice for South Capitol
study

Forwarding this email to Bikies, because I think it will be of great interest.
The survey and study in general is devoting a lot of thought and energy to how
to make this area of the city work better for all modes of travel. There are
quite a few questions about using intersections and trying to access different
areas by foot, bike, transit, and car.

Note that the first meeting of the study committee is this Thursday.

Your thoughts and opinions on the survey are important. It's a little long - it
took me about 10 minutes (?) (I prefer survey formats that tell you how far
along you are, which this one does not.) There are 26 questions, but some are
multi-part or "which of these are important to you."

Please pass this around in your neighborhoods, work places, or social groups,
especially among those that travel to/through the downtown via Wilson or John
Nolen (including the path).

Please join us at the first public meeting of the SCTOD Planning Study. The

easy access to a variety of transportation modes.

The SCTOD Planning Study will include:

·         Exploring options for a pedestrian/bike bridge across John Nolen
Drive and better connecting the Downtown to Lake Monona
·         Considering converting Wilson Street into a two-way street
·         Identifying potential streetscape improvements and redevelopment
opportunities along Wilson Street
·         Exploring site options for a transit center for intercity buses and
possibilities for adjacent or on-site development
·         Identifying Capital City Trail enhancements that address the needs of
both pedestrians and bicyclists
·         Analyzing improvements to three key intersections including North
Shore Drive and John Nolen Drive, Broom Street and John Nolen Drive, John Nolen
Drive/Blair Street and Wilson Street/Williamson Street

Please take this opportunity to share your opinions and perspectives on the
SCTOD.  Please forward this email on to your neighbors—the more input we
receive, the better the study will be! Doors will open at 6:00 pm on Thursday,
