Got this just now on the national list:

Dear Alliance Leaders,

I have another quick update on federal policy: *we don't need to worry
about an anti-biking and walking amendment in the House this week.* Caron
writes:<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=0015spkPKIFh7lF5As3A1ukFEbzmLwgAO1eDYSvUvk8YHkExoCgrBiHQC28AYhezGVhl-tU93c65yxmHft6XrTSavJG4vpZz2eUOln8GDAdtEu-FHssu5vfo-gM1rhNWW4vHGC5xeReQf1eL1nbgtbWUsY9tx-OXJ5A5a2B1HlpBUD_YKKkl8TXqw==>

On Monday, we wrote that the House would debate and vote on the
Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) appropriations bill on
Tuesday night. Then on Tuesday, debate was abruptly cancelled and delayed
until Wednesday. Today, the whole bill was cancelled and put off until
September.

This means that the risk in the House has subsided.

While the bill is moving ahead in the Senate, fortunately no anti-bike/ped
amendments have been scheduled.

The League will continue to monitor the situation. We at the Alliance are
working closely with Caron and the League to make sure that pressing
updates reach you -- the people who make state and local biking and walking
advocacy tick.

*If there's a need for action this week, we'll email you with "URGENT" in
the subject line *- but hopefully that won't happen.

Thanks for doing all that you do,

Mary Lauran
