There have been a couple of announcements about the public meeting
September 5, which I hope many folks will attend. But here's a good article
about the many and complex issues that are being considered by the study:

   - Disconnect between the Capital Square and Lake Monona/Law Park
   - Conflicts between users of the Capital City Trail/Law Park
   - Conflicts between bicyclists and pedestrians on the E Wilson sidewalk
   - Where should we put an intercity bus terminal?
   - Not enough amenities in Law Park
   - Railroad, John Nolen, and topography as barriers to safe crossing
between all of Wilson and Law Park
   - Lack of good connections to transition between Cap City Trail and
   Capital area and/or E and W Wilson
   - Should we allow fill in lake to make park wider?
   - Should we try to bury John Nolen?
   - Where is the best place for bridges across the RR/John Nolen?
   - What would the bridges look like? Maybe more like little parks instead
   of just overpasses.

Madison's South Capitol District Planning Committee will host a public
meeting on preliminary concepts for transportation changes for an area
bounded by Lake Monona, Wilson, Bedford and Blair streets.

6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5.

The Madison Senior Center, 330 W. Mifflin St.
