In this case, I have unfairly maligned Chris Rickert. It was Chris Murphy that wrote the article - or more correctly the Q&A - on bicycle safety.
Murphy is usually a better writer, but this is a complex subject, and I think there were a few points that got jumbled together and other important ones that were missed. Not sure if that was due to the points made by the interview subject or editing his remarks.
