Hello, If you didn't already realize it, winter is here and has been around for short while already, but will be over before we know it! So, I feel that a quick update on Madison Bike Winter is in order. We're fast approaching 1,100 "likes" on our FB page, which is amazing/exciting!
We are getting ready for our Winter Bike To Work Day, which will be on Wednesday, February 5, and will be doing just 1 day instead of a full week as we've done in past years. For the day, we hope to have a couple commuter stations in the morning located near the bike paths handing out coffee and breakfast-like snacks, etc., and currently thinking of locating them near Machinery Row and at the top of the Southwest bike path, close to Camp Randall. Then, in the evening, we might hand out hot cocoa, or simply host a "happy hour" somewhere. At the end of that week, Friday, February 7, we plan to have a Bike Winter Ride and follow the ride with a party, both yet to be determined. I will send future updates on both the bike to work day and also end of the week ride and party. For those of you who were not able to make our fashion show back in November, at Machinery Row, it was a great event that only seems to be getting bigger every year, and more well known as an annual event. We had a good variety of models and the Machinery Row staff were great in setting us up with a runway for our models to show off their winter gear and accessories. We had a good New Year's Day ride, with just a few folks joining in the fun, but was good to get out and the ride was lovely going through the Arb that morning. So, keep watch of our FB page at www.facebook.com/madbikewinter, and I'll try to post additional updates in the near future. Please help spread the word about our Winter Bike To Work Day and contact me if you have ideas, would like to volunteer, or have questions.
