The Lakeshore Nature Preserve is tentatively planning a prescribed burn this
Sunday April 5 in several areas, including the Willow Creek Savanna along the
Lakeshore Path (behind the Natatorium). Their plan is to keep the path open,
though it may be narrowed, and a detour may be required depending on wind and
weather conditions. Please exercise caution in the area.

Subject: Prescribed Burns Planned - April 5 - Lakeshore Nature Preserve
Importance: High

The current forecast is looking favorable to conduct prescribed burns this
Sunday April 5 in the Lakeshore Nature Preserve.

Units to be burned and order of implementation will depend upon fuel moisture
conditions. Priority burn units include the Eagle Heights Woods Indian mounds
at the west end, Willow Creek savanna behind the Natatorium, Biocore prairie,
and several units along Picnic Point. See the attached map for potential burn
units.

The crew from Quercus Land Stewardship Services would arrive mid-morning to
begin preparations, with ignition taking place late morning in the first unit
(TBD).
